The radio license only ran until May 2021, so we're no longer broadcasting on the previous frequency, but it was fun for the year it lasted and helped keep us together as a community during the coronavirus pandemic. There were two regular broadcasts between May 2020 and May 2020, Saturday Night @ Home and Sunday Reflections. Steve is still sharing his Sunday Reflections in a podcast available via the link below.

Saturday Night @ Home

The Reverend Steve Hayes shares his ‘Sunday Reflections’ every Sunday at 11.30am, 3pm and 6pm. Each broadcast will be available as a podcast for 14 days using this link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/1140137

How it began

Piddington Community Radio broadcast for the first time on VE Day 2020. Caught in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and unable to hold the celebrations that had been planned, a couple of villagers decided that there must be a way for the community to share and enjoy wartime tunes together whilst holding their kerbside picnics.  And so, the radio station was born.

During ‘normal’ times our village hall and St Nicholas Church form the natural hubs for the Parish, so in Lockdown our community Facebook page, WhatsApp, village email system and website became our virtual hubs.  It was hoped that the radio station would become part of this network whilst Lockdown continued.

We therefore bought a radio licence for a year and are broadcast two regular programmes: Reverend Steve Hayes with his ‘Sunday Reflections’, and ‘Saturday Night @ Home’, where members of the community shared a selection of their favourite music.

Many thanks to our Parish Council, the Village Hall Committee and The Pantry for their contributions towards the running cost of the station for twelve months.
